Together against loneliness: Destilla brings christmas joy

During the Advent season, Destilla GmbH focused on a special apprentice project: the Christmas card initiative “Love Fits on a Card.” The goal was to bring a little Christmas joy to elderly individuals and residents of social care facilities, while also taking a stand against loneliness. Over the course of a week, employees of the company wrote heartfelt messages, poems, and Christmas wishes on postcards. The cozy atmosphere was enhanced with children’s punch and festive treats in the break rooms.

An Action with Heart and Impact

The initiative was a great success: around 500 cards were collected and sent to facilities such as Bürgerheim Nördlingen and St. Vinzenz Nursing Home in Nördlingen. Additional cards were delivered through the organization “Post mit Herz e.V.” to Askanierhaus Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein. The Christmas cards featured personal messages and hand-drawn illustrations—some even created together with employees’ families.

Apprentice-Led Effort

The entire organization and execution of the project were managed by Destilla’s apprentices. “We wanted to create a project that spread joy and fostered connections between people,” explained Nina Lang and Emilie Dedic, the main organizers of the apprentice initiative. “The positive feedback from the facilities showed us how much of an impact a small gesture can make.”

Through this initiative, Destilla GmbH demonstrated the importance of social responsibility—not only for the recipients but also for strengthening the sense of community within the company. “Our goal was to create a feeling of togetherness and connection—and we succeeded,” emphasized Managing Director Matthias Thienel.
